Element Materials Technology Analytical Chemist II in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Overview

Avomeen, proud to be part of Element, is seeking a Analytical Chemist II . The Analytical Chemist II in the Pharma Analysis & Testing Team develops analytical methods, performs testing and validation and handles a variety of client projects. The Chemist is responsible for quality and on time delivery and complying with all cGMP and Avomeen protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Develops analytical methods and performs testing using a variety of technologies possibly including HPLC, LC-MS, GC, GC/MS, Microscopy, FTIR and UV, solid and liquid dosage formulations. Has learned multiple methodologies and techniques to be able to maximally contribute to the organization

  • Executes projects of moderate complexity in support of client needs. Types of projects include: Product deformulation and product development, method development and validation, failure analysis and problem solving, extractable and leachable studies, tablet and ointment formulation, and structural characterization

  • Follows all safety requirements including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment

  • Generates client reports and supporting laboratory documentation in compliance with company SOPs

  • Complies with all company SOPs and modifies SOPs when directed

  • Takes responsibility for lab instruments and sees to their care and upkeep, engaging external vendors when appropriate

  • Is able to develop test methods and technical test protocols

  • Capable of working independently on a daily basis

  • Is client focused as demonstrated by delivering projects in a timely manner with minimal errors

  • Able to draw and defend conclusions based upon analytical data

  • Demonstrates problem-solving abilities and an attitude of learning

  • Is able to perform Peer Review of the work of others

Skills / Qualifications

  • B.S. in Chemistry or Pharmacy

  • 1-5 years’ experience working in a cGMP environment

  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques demonstrated through a combination of industry and academic performanceEffective scientific writer (experience with report writing)

  • Effective oral presenter (experience with scientific presentations)

  • Effective time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Must be a flexible, adaptable, self-driven team player with a positive attitude

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
