Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow well defined work procedures and instructions.

  • Independently make decisions and utilize available resources to meet customer requirements.

  • Analyze/maintain/reconcile various customer and Thermo Fisher reports to ensure customer and Thermo Fisher requirements are met.

  • Appropriately escalate customer concerns/problems to manager

  • Effectively communicate with customer

  • Access & utilize Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Intranet and SharePoint document management system.

  • Positively represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at all times

  • Transport containers of biohazardous waste from laboratory and/or local accumulation points to central storage areas, including restocking of empty containers.

  • Transport containers of hazardous and non-hazardous chemical waste from laboratory and/or local accumulation points to central storage areas, including restocking of empty containers.

  • Perform required testing of life safety systems; safety showers and/or eyewashes, etc. as required by regulations and/or departmental procedures.

  • Conduct require periodic inspections of waste accumulation and storage areas.

  • Conduct and assist in developing health, safety, and environmental education and training programs.

  • Assist in the inventory and procurement of supplies as necessary.

  • Participate in sampling, inventory, data collection, and metrics as required or requested; including, but not limited to preparation of reports, summaries, etc.

  • Assist with the manifesting, packaging, transporting and other duties related to wastemanagement as required.

  • Comply with all occupationalhealth,safety, and environmental rules and regulations, and University policies and guidelines.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

  • An Associate’s degree in occupational health, safety, environmental, orchemical sciences. Related field or equivalent combination of education and experience at the discretion of the customer.

  • Certification such as a Certified Hazardous MaterialsManager or Certified SafetyProfessional isdesirable

  • Reasonable knowledge of occupational health, safety, environmental, principles and practices, and rules/regulations is necessary.

  • RCRA hazardous waste training will be provided.

  • Computer literate

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel

  • Work Overtime, as required

  • Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted

  • Ability to walk up to 5 miles per day

  • Valid Michigan driver’s license
