Job Overview


The Cost Supervisor – Body SCE is responsible for leading a team of System Cost Engineers (SCEs) in developing purchased component technical costs through the life of vehicle programs on Body and Stamping components. Cost Supervisor’s – Body SCE are required to be subject matter experts on cost methodology as well as have business acumen and technical skills to effectively lead and support SCEs.

Responsibilities include:

  • EDD, variable and tooling cost management throughout vehicle program life (target setting, sourcing guidance, design change collaboration, current production price analysis)

  • Managing workload, training, and development of Cost Engineers within their specific teams

  • Leading appropriate escalation if component cost collaborations cannot be agreed upon with the respective suppliers

  • Owning integrity of all cost models within their core teams and drive for continuous improvement

  • Working with engineering and purchasing partners to identify strategies to reduce cost

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Finance or Engineering from an ABET accredited university

  • Minimum EIGHT (8) years of automotive product development / releasing / manufacturing experience, or minimum of EIGHT (8) years developing EDD, Variable and/or tooling cost for automotive components

  • Ability to lead teams

  • Strong leadership, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Capable to prepare, synthesize and present complex topics to Senior Leadership

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced technical or business degree

  • Experienced in automotive component manufacturing processes, developing cost models for automotive components, and identifying and driving cost improvement opportunities
