FCA US, LLC Design Engineer Powertrain Vapor Canister in Auburn Hills, Michigan
In this role, the Vapor Canister Design Engineer will be responsible for the specification of Evap vapor canister for all FCA vehicles with a gasoline engine. Specifically, the Canister Engineer is responsible for the canister performance specification, working with the chosen supplier to achieve the specification, and product issue resolution. This position requires interaction with vehicle releasing groups, DE calibrators, OBD calibrators, engine controller software and hardware, powertrain test labs, suppliers, quality organization, manufacturing plants, and Purchasing. Furthermore, the Canister Design Engineer is responsible for all facets of assigned components including (but not limited to) sourcing package input, design, validation, supplier signoff, cost/weight/investment targets, and warranty. The Canister Design Engineer will also develop and carry out FMEArsquo;s and DVPRrsquo;s to ensure that functional objectives and durability goals are met. The Engineer will participate in the Evap COE team activities, benchmarking exercises and updating corporate design best practices. Additionally, as the Core Evap team is on the forefront of designing systems for mild hybrid applications, the Canister Design Engineer will also regularly interface with the Electrified Powertrain team, to identify functional requirements for mild hybrid applications, to ensure the canister meets those functional objectives, as well as those of the canister itself.Basic Qualifications:bull; Bachelorrsquo;s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering degree from an accredited programbull; Design and/or releasing engineering experiencebull; Experience with plastic componentsbull; Strong program management skillsbull; Experience with NX CAD softwarebull; Strong written and oral communication skillsbull; Ability to work in a team environmentbull; Proficient in Microsoft Suite and G SuitePreferred Qualifications:bull; Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Applied Physics from an accredited universitybull; Prior evaporative or vapor canister design experiencebull; Strong leadership skillsOur benefits reflects the FCA commitment to helping you reach your personal and professional goals.
