Job Overview

Qualifications

The Heat & Vent Seat Design and Release Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing automotive seating systems and components. The Engineer will define functional requirements, develop system DVPR, DFMEA and function models. The Heat & Vent Seat Design and Release Engineer also is responsible for updating and testing calibrations in the lab and in-vehicle, releasing component performance specifications and drawings. The selected candidate will be required to interact with other functional engineering groups, suppliers, manufacturing plants and purchasing.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer/Computer Science or equivalent) from an ABET accredited or equivalent program

  • One year of engineering experience

  • Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to present ideas and concepts successfully to different audiences

  • Demonstrated relationship building skills with ability to work in a cross-functional team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Automotive product engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: interior systems, advanced vehicle engineering, interior systems, electrical engineering, heated seats, ventilated seats and AVE experience using CAD systems (NX or Catia V5)

  • Broad vehicle knowledge

  • Ability to integrate stakeholder requirements into final vehicle design

  • Ability to productively manage change

  • Experience using problem solving skills using proactive quality tools (Design for Six Sigma)

  • Experience using reactive quality tools (Kepner-Tregoe / Shainin) DFSS and/or Reactive Green Belt

  • Experience using CAD systems (NX or Catia V5) with the ability to position and manipulate models, as well as cut sections, dimension and conceptualize designs

  • VPM, CoDept and Teamcenter knowledge
