The Vehicle Energy Management System (Charging, Cranking, and Energy Storage) Engineer is responsible to design and develop robust innovative global solutions by, controlling the consumption of electrical power after the ignition switch is turned off in each phase of the program development process, defining and guaranteeing the environmental, physical, electrical, mechanical, functional, regulatory, and durability requirements for cold cranking systems, determining and ensuring the optimal battery and alternator sizing by compiling all the information regarding electrical loads and their operating logic for the vehicle model including driveline characteristics and providing technical documentation for the purpose of helping non-technical personal identify and solve problems without expert assistance. The candidate will also establish Smart Charge and Electronic Stop/Start settings in order to optimizes battery charging for enhancing fuel economy and battery warranty, will incorporate core processes, Lessons Learned (LL) and standard engineering design practices, will be supporting EM to establish consistent upfront DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effect Analysis) assessments supported by robust benchmarking analysis prior to program approval and managing EM & PASD global core competencies and implementing global IT tool solutions.
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer/Computer Science or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university
Experience in Vehicle Energy Management systems or manufacturing energy systems components suppliers
- Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
