FCA US, LLC Engine Harness Development Engineer in Auburn Hills, Michigan
This Engine Harness Development Engineer duties include but are not limited to the design, prototyping and documenting responsibilities of engine, transmission and electrified powertrain wiring harnesses to be used in dynamometer test cells. The Engineer’s responsibilities also include organizing and overseeing the build of such harnesses (both in-house and outsourcing to a supplier), checking for errors, verifying operation, controlling inventory, troubleshooting issues and ensuring corrective actions. The Engine Harness Development Engineer will be expected to be able to read and interpret device transmittal information and be able to utilize that information to efficiently design wiring harnesses for dynamometer testing. The Engineer will be required to interface with a network of product development engineers to gather required electrical information, work with technicians and third party suppliers to ensure harnesses are built to specification, document designs and maintain the drawing database. The Development Engineer must be engaged in multiple projects simultaneously, track harness and part inventories, troubleshoot/diagnose issues in the field, build prototype harness assemblies, jumper harnesses and pigtail assemblies.Basic Qualifications:•Associate’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent•5 years of relevant experience•Strong background and hands-on experience in wiring requirements such as current, voltage and electrical noise mitigation (proper grounding, shielding, twisted wiring)•Able to work in a fast-paced environment•Able to guide the technician/mechanic workforce with work orders and direction for repairing and modifying wiring harnesses and test cell issues•Experience using MS Office and/or Google G Suite applications•Excellent verbal and written communication skills•Team-oriented, self-starter and self-directedPreferred Qualifications:•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline with a strong electrical background•10 years of relevant engineering experience•Experience in automotive and instrumentation wiring along with experience with data acquisition systems and dynamometer operations•Experience with wiring and operation of hybrid powertrain systems•Experience with the repair/assembly of vehicles/enginesOur benefits reflects the FCA commitment to helping you reach your personal and professional goals.
