Job Overview


The EVT Propulsion System ACE will work with the Regional Chief and Global Chief to provide the technical leadership for a given Global Electrified Powertrain architecture.

The main functional areas include HV battery, electric machines, power devices, electric drive modules (including transmissions), the internal combustion engine and control systems integration. This position must ensure that a given electrified propulsion system will meet the global functional and performance objectives outlined by the cross- regional vehicle platform teams. This includes the setting of performance and functional objectives for the propulsion system and subsystem technical specifications that relate to each component in the system to ensure the high-level vehicle functional objectives are met cross-regionally.

The focus of the EVT Propulsion System ACE is technical in nature. Job responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Chair and lead weekly technical design reviews to identify all technical issues

  • Represents the Chief Engineer in meetings where required

  • Create an open issues list accordingly and drive resolution to issues through regular meetings and individual discussions as required

  • Ensure technical risks and issues have clear path to resolution and elevate to Regional or Global Chief Engineer for prioritization

  • Review of technical documentation including DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, CCDs/CNs, IAAs (change management systems), GIMS (issue tracking systems). DFMEAs to be reviewed to ensure proper flow for function, failure mode, controls design, and diagnostics development, which lead directly into DVPs

  • Ensure that this documentation is properly updated by the business owner for each engineering change

  • Reviewing the documentation for GIMS, plywood buck, and plant build issues to ensure the 7-D process is properly followed in all affected regions

  • Work with Software, Controls and Calibration to support improvement releases and the robust delivery there of

  • Work with the quality and reliability engineers to summarize the status of these documents for presentation to the Regional and Global Chief Engineers for final approval

  • Lead Electrified Powertrain architecture CQI & Warranty initiatives

  • Work with the Model Integration Manager (MIM) to understand the cross-regional vehicle level functional objectives for the powertrain

  • Develop measurable criteria for each functional objective with the goal of clearly determining pass/fail criteria for each objective

  • Disseminate, once defined, the requirements to all functional areas via the Powertrain Architecture Team

  • Work with the Platform Manager and MIM to provide technical content for management level reviews, industrial heads review, product committee decks, and program and powertrain bulletin responses support in the Powertrain Operations Meeting (POM)

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university

  • Minimum EIGHT (8) years of product development experience in the automotive industry

  • Minimum TWO (2) years in hybrid and/or electrified powertrain system development; this could include product design release, controls and calibration development

  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles, DFMEA and DVP&R development and execution

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Self-motivated, self-starter, and strong independent leadership skills

  • Excellent communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from accredited university

  • Strengths in controls calibration and simulation work
