Be a part of a team filled with bright, resourceful and determined employees who play a vital role in FCA’s regulatory development, certification and compliance activities.We are looking for Product Investigators to join our Vehicle Safety and Product Analysis team. These critically important positions are primarily responsible for conducting comprehensive technical investigations related to vehicle safety and compliance. The product investigator will guide the organization through the investigation process for field issues and may present findings/recommendations to senior management for decision. In this role the product investigator will learn about the safety-related performance expectations for our products and will learn how those expectations affect our product designs, manufacturing and supplier quality processes. The issues studied will challenge and develop the investigator’s abilities to distill data, draw conclusions and recommend actions. The Vehicle Safety and Product Analysis team is a collaborative group which works with many different functional groups across all disciplines, reporting levels, and regions to effectively manage and lead all product investigations. Sound judgment, excellent communication skills and the ability to drive decisions through consensus and influence change are a must.Day to Day:•Work with internal teams (e.g., Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Service and Legal) to gather critical data as part of the investigation•Lead interactions with internal and external teams to find root cause and determine corrective action plans•Access a variety of advanced (‘big data’) tools and receive training in advanced data analysis•Search and analyze field data from corporate databases to support investigative work•Prepare documents, reports, presentations and demonstrations for discussions with management and/or governmental agencies•Maintain thorough and complete records on internal database•Obtain components and technical information from subject matter experts necessary to support analysisBasic Qualifications:•Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university (other degrees with relevant work experience may be considered)•Minimum of 5 years of experience in Chassis or Powertrain; such as Releasing, Resident Engineering, Quality, etc.Preferred Qualifications:•Master of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university•Shainin and/or DFSS background•Strong behavioral skills: Ability to make tough decisions, reach for discontinuity, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with difficult deadlines•Knowledge of FMVSS/CMVSS regulations•Manufacturing or quality background•Engineering release background•Technical writing and verbal communication skillsOur benefits reflects the FCA commitment to helping you reach your personal and professional goals.
