The Program Responsible Propulsion Systems (PRPS) (formerly known as Powertrain) is the primary interface between Propulsion Systems (Engine, Transmission, Driveline, Electrified Systems, Calibration, etc.) and the vehicle program directly supporting the vehicle Model Responsible (MR) and their team. Responsibilities include program management and coordination for all activities and interface for all Propulsion Systems issues (cost, timing, program planning, launch support, quality, program resolution, etc.) It requires balancing the inputs/needs of the Vehicle team and the internal Propulsion Systems community (Chief Engineers, Family Managers, Program Managers, etc.) Presenting complicated topics in a concise and clear way to Executive Leadership is a critical part of the position. The PR candidate may need to be available for off hour teleconferences and potential travel in the future.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university
Minimum of FIVE (5) years’ design, development, and program management experience in broad powertrain functions and/or vehicle engineering in any of the following areas: engine, transmission, electrified powertrain, driveline, exhaust/induction, cooling, fuels, underbody and under hood packaging, adaptation, controls, and calibration
Must work well independently, exhibit high leadership, communication, presentation, and organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Capable of representing the Propulsion Systems organization as the single point contact
Solid understanding of FCA product development processes, including Timing milestones (vehicle and propulsion), design validation, KPI, functional objectives and gate processes
Strong communication (written and oral) and team building skills
Ability to self-motivate, and work with minimal direction (ability to understand and complete next steps without regular guidance)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university.
Master of Business Administration degree
Experience and understanding of the vehicle cost process (SCE or VCE)
Experience with the ER&D roll-up process
Experience with Change Notice (CN) and Common Change Document (CCD) process
Significant knowledge of the automotive industry and competitive benchmarks
Multiple program life cycle experience
Experience as a Resident/Quality Engineer at one or more manufacturing plants
International experience with Europe, Latin America and/or Asia
