Job Overview

Qualifications

The Propshaft and Halfshaft Design and Release Engineer acts as the owner of assigned propshaft and halfshaft. The engineer executes product design, analysis, release and testing according to Stellantis Driveline & Axle technical infrastructure and Product Creation Process:

This position is responsible for:

  • Works with suppliers to establish and/or develop designs that meet requirements and engineering best practices against technical requirements for the assigned components

  • Recognized as single point leadership contact for suppliers’ product engineering

  • Manages and tracks supplier product engineering activities and deliverables, including supplier test plans and test execution

  • Prepares product engineering work plans in accordance with program and project timing and milestones

  • Executes engineering deliverables in adherence to technical infrastructure and product development process deliverables, reviews, sign-offs, and report-outs, including technical requirements; source package documents; supplier design reviews; lessons learned; DFMEA; DVP&R and virtual DVP&R; EBOM; models; drawings; and change management

  • Delivers parts / hardware to prototype and pilot builds, including requisitions for prototypes and ED&D

  • Collaborates with transmission and driveline systems subject matter experts, ACEs, DSEs, AEs, and other stakeholders to address and support any failures using the appropriate tools and processes

  • Prepares status reports and presentations for management and CE organization

  • Supports manufacturing on production-related issues

  • Generates cost reduction ideas and develops and executes corresponding design and validation plans.

  • Participate in warranty meetings and develops solutions for warranty issues

  • Conducts Layered Process Audits at supplier plants for assigned components

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program

  • Proven experience with written and verbal communication

  • Self-starter

  • Possess outstanding interpersonal and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work in team environment, lead and manage suppliers

  • Must be able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously

  • Some travel required to suppliers and corporate vehicle assembly plants

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of engineering experience in Automotive industry

  • Knowledge in driveline and axle system

  • Experience in propshaft and halfshaft design and development.

  • Green/black belt in Shainin or DFSS desirable
