The Propulsion System Calibration Engineer— Model Basedof a new FCA vehicle application will develop calibrations with both electrified and conventional technologies using model based methods.
The Propulsion System Calibration Engineer— Model Basedwill form calibrations from existing plant models starting at the control system co- development process. He/she will test the propulsion system functional objectives on a virtual platform, while generating expanded test case coverage and correlation to physical resources.
The Propulsion System Calibration Engineer— Model Basedwill plan and coordinate day to day simulation resources including component and system HILs, which will include interaction with technicians and supporting engineers. The scope of responsibility spans the development and application of calibration and control system for hybrid, electric, and conventional propulsion modes.
The role will work cross functionally to develop and execute calibration strategies across the functional areas of core engine, drivability, emissions, vehicle integration, virtual engineering, OBD, torque security, e motor and battery. He/she will make data based decisions through rigorous development /test plans. The Propulsion System Calibration Engineer— Model Basedwill present and justify changes to a lead calibrator, chief engineer, and senior management as appropriate.
This individual will have also demonstrated the ability to work well with others. They must be a team player, supporting and promoting team accomplishments versus personal achievement.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics from an ABET accredited university
Minimum of TWO (2) years combined work experience in the area of powertrain calibration, development or virtual engineering
Knowledge of electrified powertrain fundamentals
Knowledge of gasoline engine fundamentals: efficiency, performance, and emissions
Experience using MATLAB / SIMULINK
Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data
Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
Strong teamwork skills and ability to work independently
Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
Strong knowledge of the propulsion system (hardware, calibration, controls)
Experience root causing first install conformance (napkin schematics, wiring, CAN, facilities, calibration)
Experience in Powertrain Control solution development
System development experience in airflow, combustion, thermodynamics, or after treatment areas
Calibration process knowledge using design of experiments and advanced optimization techniques
