Job Overview


As theSenior Technical Specialist – Converter and Charging Modulesyou will have the global responsibilities for FCA’s research and development for the entire electric vehicle platforms which include mHEV, HEV, PHEV and BEV.

Responsibilities include but are not limited for components in scope:

  • Critical Design Review of all high/low power electronics for electric propulsion, High/Low voltage DC-DC converters, EV Charging Systems, Power Distribution Centers at each development phase

  • Guiding the design process, apply best practice and lessons learned from design to launch

  • Supporting validation and testing plan/process of all EV power electronics systems

  • Helping create, promoting, and implementing the FCA technology roadmap for power electronics systems for global electric vehicle programs

  • Performing advance design reviews and component/ system/sub system approval of power electronics systems during all development phases

  • Working with FCA Design Release Engineers (DREs) responsible for HV/LV Power Inverter Modules (PIM) / Power Electronics Bay (PEB), On-board charging module (OBCM), Integrated Dual Charging Modules (IDCM), DC-DC Converters

  • Working with FCA cross-function/vehicle teams, suppliers, and universities to develop/implement advance technologies for next generation electric vehicle technologies

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited program

  • Minimum 10 years of overall power electronics/power conversion experience in Low voltage and High voltage

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HV/LV power inverter design, DC-DC converters and Charging system experience

  • Must have a good understanding of power semiconductor module technologies used in EV applications and working experience with major power module manufacturers

  • Experience with performance analysis, testing, and validating, power conversion modules

  • Extensive Experience with power electronics component analysis, testing and de-rating strategies

  • Extensive experience and expertise in thermal modeling, simulations, analysis and thermal management of Power Electronics components and systems

  • Thorough understanding of power electronics components/systems development process from concept through launch

  • Highly rated for leadership and teamwork

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interest in the automotive industry and electrified powertrain systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, preferably in Power Electronics major

  • Experience with Control of Induction and Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines

  • Knowledge in low power electronics, analog/digital circuit design, FPGA, Microprocessor technologies

  • Knowledge in V2V, V2L and V2G technologies

  • Knowledge in DFMEA and DFSS methodologies

  • Ability to travel 10-15% internationally

  • Understanding of Induction and Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines performance evaluations
