E&I Engineer

Permanent position: An Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer is needed for a leading manufacturing organization near Kalamazoo, MI. The Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for managing a wide array of plant electrical systems including PLC's, Drives, and HMI's. Qualified candidates must a BS in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years' of experience of E&I or Controls engineering experience. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities for the E&I Engineer

  • Provide supervision and technical direction, leadership, and coaching, to E&I technicians

  • Develop PLC and HMI code for control of various electro-mechanical systems

  • Identify E&I equipment and process improvements that support a reduction of facility downtime

  • Work with plant electricians to diagnosis malfunctions; determine repairs, and elimination of the cause of the malfunctions

  • Ensure preservation of automated systems including PLC's, Drives, and associated equipment, including critical spares inventory review

Requirements for the E&I Engineer

  • BS in Electrical Engineering

  • 3+ years' of experience of E&I or Controls engineering experience within a manufacturing environment, paper manufacturing background is coveted

  • Proficiency with PLC programming and troubleshooting; experience with Rockwell, ControlLogix PLC5, SLC500, and Micro Logix is preferred

  • Knowledge with Allen Bradley AC and DC Drives is preferred

  • Understanding and ability to read, interpret, and modify schematics for both power and control systems; Power systems experience: 4.1kV to 480V motor control centers, switchgear, transformers, DC Motors, and relays
