Position Summary: Provides

high level equipment service and support through repairs, preventive and

general maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing,

calibration, troubleshooting on one or more categories of specialized

biomedical, surgical, oncology, diagnostic imaging equipment, sterilization,

clinical data/network systems and other related technologies at multiple

facilities. Assists other service

providers, both McLaren staff and external vendors, conducting at least 50% of

service support without vendor assistance.

Essential Functionsand Responsibilities:

  1. Responds to requests for maintenance services from the memberhospitals and/or affiliates of the McLaren Healthcare Corporation; performs initial assessment, problemverification, troubleshooting and repairs, conducting at least 50%of work without vendor support.

  2. Completes the preventive maintenance (PM) workload forassigned equipment to achieve a required PM compliance within pre-establishedtime frames. Follows written preventivemaintenance and quality assurance testing procedures for assigned medicalequipment. Performs scheduled PM during normal hours, after hours and/or onweekends as required.

  3. Leads and/or assists with work performed by otherservice specialist staff as well as services provided by external serviceproviders at any MHC system hospital or external site. Performs repairs on defective ormalfunctioning equipment on assigned specialty equipment, and on generaltypes of clinical patient care equipment used throughout the organization.

  4. Prioritizes service calls and unscheduled maintenance or repairswhile ensuring responses are within acceptable guidelines and timeframesas required by the user department/unit.

  5. Reviews service reports and approves invoices related to servicesperformed on assigned devices and systems.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate degree in electronics or biomedicalengineering, or equivalent military training or 2 years’ experience intechnical service repair and maintenance pertaining to the specific equipmentrequiring high levels of technical support.

  • Three years hand's on experience performingdirect repair and maintenance on highly complex equipment in one or more of thefollowing specialized fields:

  • Diagnostic Imaging Equipment: includes general radiographic; fluoroscopic;special procedures; ultrasound; gamma camera; MRI; CT (computed tomography)systems and other systems specific to radiology, cardiac catheterization,nuclear medicine or ultrasound.

  • Radiation Therapy/Oncology Equipment: includes linear accelerators; simulators;stereotactic systems; treatment planning systems; and other systems specific toradiation oncology.

  • Analytical/Diagnostic Equipment: clinicallaboratory analyzers; assigned clinical departments and/or specific, one of a kindclinical support systems.

  • Sterilization/Surgical/Dialysis SpecialtyDevices: includes steam and ETO sterilizers; hand instruments; lasers;robotic surgical systems; heart/lung bypass systems.
