Scope of Role:

Designs and/or modifies parts and assemblies on new and existing product to

customer requirements. Maintains and processes CAD and engineering

documentation. Supports business lines as well as internal and external

customers and suppliers to provide proper design requirements.

Position Focus:

50% Designs and/or modifies parts and assemblies primarily using SOLIDWORKS

3D drawing tools to meet the customer’s requirements.

20% Provides creative cost effective recommendations to all requests,

including prototype, cost informational and engineering changes in a timely


15% Prepares information including tolerance stack-ups, design

calculations, detail sheets, modified prints and engineering standards per

engineer’s requests. Supports print /design reviews. Utilize Microsoft

Office (Excel and Word) to support design and engineering print creation

5% Provides training and consultation as required.

5% Responsible for project management.

5% Maintains, coordinates and processes routine engineering documentation

and performs other miscellaneous duties as required.

Proven dedication to continuous quality improvement. Demonstrated ability

anticipates and prevents problems. Mechanical aptitude and visual acuity.

Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills. Looks for improvements in

current designs. Works with people from other departments, works on a

minimum of 2 projects and a few simple jobs concurrently, effectively

handles their own workload, demonstrates follow through on projects,

recognizes patterns in solving problems, looks beyond the obvious, has

vision on how product design can evolve, manages change, poses diplomatic

skills and organizational skills. Persons occupying this position will be

expected to sign an Employee Inventions and Proprietary Information



  • Associates Degree in Design or a technically related field OR at leastfour (4) years product design experience, Bachelor’s Degree, MechanicalEngineering preferred

  • Proven working knowledge of Geometric Design and Tolerances (GD&T)

  • Demonstrated ability to operate 2D and 3D CAD system to design andcomponents

  • Ability to apply proper detailing requirements to engineering printsand perform accurate tolerance stack-up calculations

  • Fluency in SOLIDWORKS with strong component and assembly modeling

  • FEA, CFD, and additional simulation experience a plus
