Other duties may be assigned.•Responsible for creating 3-D models, 2-D drawings, BOM drawings and detailing of material handling solutions including:•Ergonomic lifting devices•Jib cranes•Articulating Arms•Hooks•Manipulators•Overhead railatent track systems•System Layouts•Work concurrently on multiple projects of complex scope.•Understand customer needs, apply technical knowledge to identify process requirements, recommend and implement custom engineered solutions.•Performs mechanical design and development consistent with department and industry standards.•Uses cost effective design techniques to obtain a competitive and salable product/design.Advises and assists Engineering Manager on mechanical design interfaced problems and decisions.Required to design and cost new standard product.•Keep abreast of latest design and assembly techniques using up-to-date methods, components, and materials.•Assist production and quality assurance personnel in resolving mechanical assembly and test problems.•Check drawings; responsible for completeness and accuracy of all work.•Have contact with Engineers, Department Managers/Leaders and others with interest in a related design.•Have contact with outside people (vendors, suppliers, and customers etc.) in relationship to a particular design.•Provide purchasing department with specifications for ordering raw materials and hardware required for equipment fabrication.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability requiredEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE5-8 years' experience in design of material handling solutions.LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write clear concise correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSMust be able to perform design calculations or analysis for design of components and sub-systems. Calculations may include stress analysis, force/load/deflection on mechanical and structural components.REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
