Job Description & Qualifications:

The Vehicle Architecture and DAT Engineering Organization designs, develops and validates state-of-the-art vehicle-level driver assist technologies or features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Assist with AEB, Ford Co-Pilot 360 and assist technologies.

We are looking for a highly skilled and upbeat design and release application engineer for DAT (Driver Alert Technology) systems. You will integrate and implement DAT features on new and upcoming vehicles lines. You will develop innovative concepts and integrate those concepts into feasible and efficient design. As an application engineer, you will collaborate with variety of cross- functional teams from product inception to the vehicle launch as well as lead quality and warranty of your components after the launch of the product.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Electrical Active Safety Design and Release (D&R) and Application work on multiple Programs

  • Lead component packaging and integration of Active Safety radar and camera on multiple vehicle lines

  • Lead systems sourcing effort with finance and purchasing to engage suppliers

  • Ensure Programs’ work are met on time and with the highest quality. This includes: AVBOM, Packaging/Digital Buck, DPA Checks, WERS, eFDVS, Subsystem/Supplier work plans, DVP&R, Engineering Signoff, etc.

  • Develop work plans and lead resolution of Active Safety implementation and validation related issues

  • Lead Design Validation and Production Validation for components and Driver Assist features

  • Support prototype vehicle builds and production vehicle launches

  • Lead current production/assembly plant issues associated with ADAS features/parts

  • Occasional travel to Assembly plants to support vehicle launch and production issues

  • Lead quality and warranty analysis of production vehicles

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Control Systems

  • 2+ years of experience in Driver Assist Systems design and development

  • 1+ year of experience in CAD packaging, CATIA and/or Teamcenter

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Excellent leadership, communication and project management skills

  • Ability to quickly learn the job and self-lead the D&R Application work for Active Safety Radar and Camera systems on Programs

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to communicate with multi-functional teams and champion issue resolution to get the job done

  • Familiarity with Ford Product Development tools or equivalent: eFDVS, VSEM, WERS, FSMS, AIMS, AVBOM, etc.

  • Understanding of Vehicle Architecture and communication

  • Ability to use automotive tools: DET, CANalyzer, CANoe

  • Highly motivated, extremely proactive and attention to details
