Job Title:

Design and Release Engineer for Handles, Latches and Mechanisms

Job Description & Qualifications:

Professional position utilizing engineering education and experience to engage in the design and release of vehicle closures secondary mechanisms from pre-program through post launch including ongoing maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all phases of engineering and interfacing with suppliers and other engineers on the design team to coordinate CAD, CAE, and design validation & verification

• Applying DMAIC and DFSS principles

• Analyzing and using statistical techniques and software

• Applying 8D problem solving methodology

• Applying DFMEA, DOE and tolerance design tools

• Signing off on CAD models and drawings and related GD&T

• Leading design reviews based on Failure Mode Avoidance and maintaining DVP&R/PVP&R, developing and proving out load critical and position critical threaded joints

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

• 3+ years of experience in mechanisms development

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Mechanisms design

• Proficiency in Engineering Disciplines (DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R, Tolerance Analysis, 8-D, Control Plans, Reliability/Robustness Matrices, etc.)

• Proficiency with PC software (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.)

• Proficiency in Ford engineering computer systems (WERS, AIMS, GPIRS, AVBOM, eFDVS, etc.)

• Extensive background in component/system design, and analysis

• User ability for CATIA CAD system, ADAMS/LS-DYNA, Kinematic Modeling, FEA, etc

Other Information

• Position may require occasional travel to Ford and supplier facilities in the US and other countries
