Electric Machine Core Systems Engineer – Hybrid Vehicle Team

Job Description & Qualifications:

Position Overview/Description:

As a member of the Hybrid Vehicle Team, you will design and analyze electric machines suitable for HEV or BEV architectures. You will validate electric machine performance for Electric Vehicle architectures. You will develop test plans and process data from electric machine testing. You will work with various interdisciplinary teams to finalize the electric machine design.


Job Description:

  • Works with mechanical and electrical design engineers to finalize electric machine design

  • Works with CAD designers to develop 3D models and prints for all components

  • Works with transmission design team to package electric machines into transmissions

  • Evaluates electric machine performance in various stages: prototype, pre-production, and production

  • Works with Motor, Calibration, Controls, and Testing Engineers to test electric machines, including interfacing new machine mechanical and electrical hardware to existing test equipment

  • Recommends and documents suitable testing methodologies (setup, equipment, testing procedure) to measure electric machine performance

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  • 2+ years of testing experience related to electric machines, inverters (drives), and/or controls and calibration methods for electric drive systems

  • 2+ year experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and statistics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automotive electric vehicle applications

  • M.S.in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with exposure to electric machines and/or inverters (drives)

  • Knowledge of electric machine testing / characterization equipment and testing techniques

  • 5+ years of testing experience related to electric machines, inverters (drives), including controls and calibration methods of electric machines

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Excellent communication skills
