Job Title:
Research Engineer – Advanced ML Methods
Job Description & Qualifications:
Core-AI-ML (Machine Learning) research group, within Research and Advanced Engineering, is orchestrating the process of discovery and democratization of AI-ML across all engineering function groups within the Ford product landscape. A critical aspect of this function is to not only help Ford stay ahead with the state-of-the-art in this constantly evolving field but also to explore opportunities and push the frontiers of the science of AI-ML in directions that build new and useful vectors of fundamental research leading to practical and useful products. In order to realize this vision, the Core-AI-ML research team, is looking for highly qualified and motivated candidates who are ready to tackle ambitious multi-functional problems that require discovery through fundamental research in directions that have so far received limited attention from the AI-ML community at large.
As part of the Core AI-ML team you will be responsible for conducting research for the purpose of advancing the state-of-the–art in the general area of Decision Making under uncertainty especially as it relates to MDPs, POMDP’s, Reinforcement Learning, around Multiagent-Multitasking environments such as human-robot interactions, Robotic manipulators and other robotic action and path planning problems. You will seek out innovative harmonies with concepts from control theory, Kalman Filtering, MDP, POMDP, Bayesian methods, Deep Learning etc. in defining new directions of research based knowledge creation. You will also work with practicing engineers in transferring these results into practical applications that help build product differentiation for Ford. In addition, you will also collaborate with leading researchers in academia and be active in publication generation and represent Ford at leading conferences such as CVPR, NeurIPS, ICRA, ICLR, etc.
Responsibilities
Take the lead on companywide research and development of the state-of-the-art in methods for Decisions under uncertainty and Reinforcement Learning as they apply to various stochastic decision processes including but not limited to Robotics
