Job description:

Vehicle Propulsion System Calibration Engineer positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan). Perform calibration of control strategies of advanced powertrain technologies for conventional, hybrid, and fully electrified powertrain to optimize key vehicles attributes including fuel economy, performance, drivability and emissions. Conduct validation testing on vehicles under various noise factors to deliver high quality calibrations for production implementation. Develop test plans to perform detailed evaluations of powertrain technologies and provide data driven recommendations. Integrate Computer-Aided Engineering methods to characterize system interactions and sensitivities, which will include assessing requirements and developing efficient calibration processes. Identify instrumentation requirements for the test vehicles and dynamometer environment to robustly assess system performance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a related field

  • 2 years of experience in the position offered or 2 years of experience performing powertrain calibration development and robustness testing

  • 2 years of experience leading electrified vehicle prototype development and attribute demonstration

  • 2 years of experience using powertrain technologies, including hybrid and electrified powertrains

  • 1 year of experience performing controls and calibration of driveline lash management for battery electric vehicles

  • Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently
