MPS Group Environmental Coordinator in Detroit, Michigan

Environmental Coordinator at FCA Detroit Assembly Complex. Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm

Typical Duties include:

  • Evaluates waste streams for zero waste to landfill, recycling/pollution prevention programs
  • Support and assist with management of all waste streams (except scrap metal) including general plant trash, mixed debris, hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal wastes;
  • Coordinate logistics for transportation of all commodities including but not limited to: hazardous waste, universal waste, recyclables, and non-hazardous waste from client site
  • Promote culture of safety by ensuring site personnel are properly trained to perform assigned duties and comply with safety, environmental, Federal, state and local reg
  • Manage waste in accordance with regulations and FCA EHS Management policies and standards
  • Prepare all regulatory or customer specified waste characterization and profiling documentation
  • Proactively work with customer to establish/prioritize reuse, reduction, and recycling options for waste streams to achieve zero waste to landfill to ensure quality of program
  • Promote waste reduction by working with FCA's logistic and materials team to require suppliers to help promote waste reduction by eliminating excess and increasing recyclability, as well as recycled content of raw materials or packaging
  • Track cost benefits for all Projects/activities utilizing WCM 5R methodology. Communicate progress with FCA Environmental team.
  • Supports all cost savings and waste reduction initiatives
  • Organization, Completion and Collection of shipping, profiling and waste characterization paperwork
  • Data entry entered into E-track and Waste Compliance System (WCS) monthly
  • Coordinate, monitor, and inspect Waste Collection Areas (satellite and 90 Day accumulation);
  • Evaluate customer processes to determine waste reduction/elimination opportunities;
  • Provide information for the proper procurement of containers with visual controls, as requested and approved by customer for the collection of regulated and recyclable waste;
  • Conduct inspections as required by regulation and as required by customer internal requirements of all area(s) at customer to verify compliance to all RCRA regulations and submit a monthly report to customer documenting the audit results;

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience
  • Positive customer service skills;
  • Preferred, 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training
  • Preferred, Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Material regulations
  • Preferred, RCRA Hazardous Waste requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Power point, and Word capabilities
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical
