Stellantis’ Quality organization is currently seeking a skilled, solutions-oriented Incoming Quality Product Vehicle Engineer to join Stellantis’ Quality Team at Detroit Assembly Complex Mack (DACM) Plant in Detroit, Michigan. This position is specific to support DACM’s 3rd shift operations. This position offers the selected candidate an opportunity to be an integral part of company whose focus is to change the automotive landscape. The Incoming Quality Product Vehicle Engineer is responsible for partnering with UAW work teams in a fast paced high volume automotive manufacturing environment to resolve incoming material issues. The selected candidate will partner with both Salary and Hourly Team Leaders, Quality Inspectors, and repair area personnel to achieve various business metrics of the department.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for the developing the performance of the supplier table work team
Continued improvement of company-wide quality performance – with concentration to incoming material concerns
Provide technical support between Engineering, Production and Product Design departments, as needed investigates quality concerns internally, at supplier and customer sites
Initiates the corrective action team and is responsible for monitoring and implementing corrective and preventive actions
Coordinate quality related activities to achieve business metrics of the department
Establish and maintain the documentation of processes utilizing World Class Manufacturing (WCM) tools
Utilize problem solving tools in day-to-day operations
Demonstrated people management experience
Quality-minded, critical thinker; plan, prioritize, set goals and manage multiple projects in a technical and business environment
Strong communication skills to support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
Establish partnerships both internally and externally and to influence without direct authority
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
Experienced with problem solving tools
Demonstrated ability to coach and teach others
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Ability to work off shift hours, overtime, and weekends as needed
Self-motivated and directed
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment
Background in LEAN Manufacturing principles or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and problem solving techniques
Formal reactive problem solving training (i.e. green belt/black belt/master black belt/ Six Sigma / Shainin/ Kepner Trego, etc.)
Previous applicable work experience in Automotive
