Basic Function

Provide professional advice and assistance in the resolution of substantial laboratory-related technical problems in the areas of chemistry; chemical, petroleum or civil engineering; industrial microbiology; or other applied industrial sciences associated with operational problems in Company facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in theme of energy-life cycle assessment (LCA) and sustainability; evaluate GHG emissions from the oil and gas supply chain and identify GHG emissions mitigation technologies; publish findings in peer-reviewed journals

  • Generate new insights (white papers, outlook reports, etc.) to support senior leadership in making business and strategy decisions related to the Company's technology and R&D activities within the sustainability sector

  • Provide long-term perspectives on energy systems of interest to the Company, including (but not limited to) oil and gas supply and recovery, petroleum refining and petrochemicals; perform LCAs to develop an understanding of the associated impacts of such systems and utilization of their products; perform technology literature surveys and techno-economic assessments

  • Analyze energy and environmental data for the petroleum sector, be familiar with models for energy value chains, and be able to process the model results for LCA applications; familiarity with the energy and environmental impacts of oil and gas products is vital

  • Coordinate research activities and research portfolio with other team members

  • Perform other miscellaneous related duties as requested

Education and Experience

  • B.S. Degree in Science/Engineering/Physics/Mathematics Discipline as appropriate for the area of expertise for the assigned job; MS preferred; PhD highly preferred

  • Seven years (7) experience in a substantive industrial, technological or laboratory area relevant to the jobs assignment

  • Candidate should be comfortable in working independently or part of a project team, frequent project presentation and travel to meetings at conferences and universities

  • Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette

  • Must be able to communicate and comprehend English accurately, clearly and concisely at a level required to perform the job as outlined
