AECOM is looking for a Senior Lead Electrical and Controls Engineer. Candidate will be working as part of a multi-discipline team of Engineers and Designers preparing modification packages that will include specifications, data sheets, calculations, and modifications to existing plant drawings. Candidate will provide technical oversight for the electrical and control discipline and will also prepare estimates, budgets, schedules and scope of work documents. Candidate will be working closely with the Plant Owners, operators and design engineering teams.

Minimum Requirements

Requirements for Electrical Engineering Discipline Lead I:

  • B.S. in Electrical or Controls Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Requirements for Electrical Engineering Discipline Lead II:

  • B.S. in Electrical or Controls Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.


Must be able to obtain unescorted access to a Nuclear Power Plant

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in Electrical or Controls Engineering or Engineering Management

  • Field experience at an operating Nuclear plant

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience preparing Engineering Design Packages for Nuclear Power plants including familiarity with:

a. Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01)

b. Digital hardware and software configuration control

c. Cyber-security assessments (NEI-08-09)

  • Professional Engineering License in any State in the U.S. with the ability to get licensed in Michigan by comity

  • Experience in design of electrical and control systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities

  • 4+ years of experience relating to design or operation of commercial Nuclear Power Plants

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience leading a group of engineers/designers on large projects

  • 1+ years of experience in design of modification packages for Nuclear Plants in the US

  • Project experience including:

a. Design of complex plant electrical distribution systems. Experience to include preparation of specifications and sizing calculations for electrical distribution equipment

b. Design of plant/process controls using Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Evaluating and specifying pressure, temperature, flow, and level process instrumentation, and preparation of data sheets

c. Preparation/review of engineering drawings including but not limited to single line, schematic and wiring diagrams, P&IDs, logic diagrams, and physical location drawings

d. Supervisory experience to include preparation and monitoring of budgets and schedules and providing technical oversight for direct reports
