Manufacturing Engineer
job summary:
Growing Manufacturer in Detroit is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to add to their team. The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering (or similar), and at least 2 years of manufacturing experience in the automotive industry (including internship and co-op). AutoCAD/Solidworks experience as well as lean manufacturing required.
All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

responsibilities:
Work to evaluate and analyze various processes and aspects of the business to design and implement new processes
work to determine areas of improvement and launch projects to reduce waste
Be self-motivated, embrace change and should embrace a balance of being on the plant floor and in the office.
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods through analysis of key plant floor metrics and data such as cycle time, machine data, and physical layout.
Project management from design to launch, including managing purchasing, implementation and validation of design. Responsible for effective communication with cross functional teams to ensure timely and effective launch according to customer requirements
Works with customer and supplier design staffs concerning product designs and specifications
Works with vendors to determine optimum tooling design and specifications
Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Applies tools such as CAD, Six Sigma, and lean principles
B.S. in Engineering required
Excellent written and interpersonal skills
Minimum 2 years of automotive manufacturing experience
Experience with CAD, AutoCAD, Solidworks
Experience with lean manufacturing/Six Sigma
