Position Summary
A post-doctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Abramovitch in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Michigan State University. (https://mmg.natsci.msu.edu/people/faculty/abramovitch-robert-b/).
We seek a post-doctoral associate to conduct research examining Mycobacterium tuberculosis pathogenesis and chemical biology. These studies will focus on the function of the DosRST two-component regulatory system in M. tuberculosis persistence and drug tolerance and define the functions of small molecules targeting this pathway. Strong skills in microbiology, genetics, molecular biology, and biochemistry are expected. Experience working in a Biosafety Level 3 lab and using experimental mouse models will be viewed favorably. The successful applicant will be independent, creative and approach their scholarship with a growth mindset. Strong writing and presentation skills and the ability to work well in a team are additional important qualities in a successful applicant.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to interact with a wide range of researchers in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry and pharmacology and toxicology.
This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position with reappointment contingent on satisfactory performance and available funding.

Minimum Requirements
The applicant must have experience in microbiology appropriate for work in a Biosafety Level 3 lab and hold a PhD in a field related to microbiology, genetics, biochemistry or chemical biology.
Desired Qualifications
Strong writing and presentation skills and the ability to work well in a team are additional important qualities in a successful applicant.
