Installation Department Project Engineer

Position Summary

Provide engineering support for mechanical, vacuum and utilities systems in the FRIB Accelerator System; coordinate technical aspects of the project engineering process to produce efficient designs that meet the technical baseline requirements; prepare, present and implement results and expectations to internal and external review committees; serve as the accelerator systems subject matter expert for specific interpretation of engineering requirements, codes and standards; tmplement system requirements, drawing and specification control, reviews major procurement packages and addresses Quality Assurance (QA) actions; ensure system compliance with Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and QA requirements; establish and manage engineering standards and procedures, support the design review process, the value engineering program; interface with the accelerator systems, experimental systems and conventional facilities project engineers to assure integration across functional areas.

Required Degree

Masters -Engineering or related field

Desired Degree

Doctorate -Engineering or related field

Minimum Requirements

  • Advanced degree with 10+ years’ experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Nationally recognized leader in field of expertise

Desired Qualifications

  • Nationally recognized contributor in field of expertise

  • Prior experience in accelerator systems

  • Experience with CAD/CAE and Solidworks/ANSYS

  • Prior project management experience

  • Proven success in managing teams

  • Prior experience with federally funded projects

  • Ability to work with export controlled materials
