Senior Engineer, Controls Drive System Design is a global consultancy specializing in the engineering and development of conventional and electrified transmissions and driveline systems, for automotive, off-highway, industrial, and aerospace applications. The Senior Engineer will be based at our Farmington Hills, Michigan facility and will report to the Head of Controls.We want you to:ulliContribute to design and development of control software for electric machines and drive units across automotive, commercial transport, off-highway, and aerospace sectors/liliCapture requirements for the embedded control systems of electrified products/liliDesign and develop algorithms for electrified propulsion applications using model-based design tools/liliMake and contribute to software architecture decisions that facilitate the development of efficient and effective control software/liliCreate plant models for various hydro-electro-mechanical systems for MiL HiL testing of software/liliPerform software and calibration development on real hardware in test cells and in vehicles/liliGenerate formal reports, documentation and technical communication and deliver it effectively to customers/liliManage and deliver internal and external projects to a high standard within time and cost constraints/liliProvide direction and guidance for a growing department across the entire product development lifecycle/liliCarry out engineering tasks, executed to the highest level whilst following and developing DSD technical processes, procedures, and standards/liliDevelop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with peers, business development, and technical leaders/li/ulYou will need:ulliAt least 5 yearsrsquo; experience in electrified powertrain control, and system development/liliBachelor degree in Engineering/liliExpertise using Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow/liliUnderstanding of the fundamentals of electric machine operation and the control thereof/liliHigh standards of algorithm modelling and experience with model-based design techniques/liliUnderstanding of the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems that make up hybrid and EV powertrains/liliA high level of aptitude and the ability to quicky learn and apply new engineering concepts on the job. Evidence of this capability should be demonstrated by the candidate/liliAbility to be self-guided and determine innovative and robust solutions for a variety of control challenges/liliStrong sense of ownership for assigned work and hold oneself to a high standard of the quality for delivered work./liliAbility to interface with clients with a positive, inquisitive, and value-adding approach/li/ulThe following would be a bonus:ulliExperience with low level electric motor controls/liliExperience with hybrid supervisory vehicle controls/liliExpertise in RTW Embedded coder for auto code generation/liliExperience using calibration tools such as CANape or INCA/liliExperience in developing control algorithms for production/liliAn understanding of the requirements for fulfilling ISO26262 and/or ISO13849/liliExperience in hydraulic design and/or modelling/liliExperience with other advanced simulation tools such a
