Senior Engineer, Controls Drive System Design is a global consultancy specializing in the engineering and development of conventional and electrified transmissions and driveline systems, for automotive, off-highway, industrial, and aerospace applications. The Senior Engineer will be based at our Farmington Hills, Michigan facility and will report to the Head of Controls.We want you to:Contribute to design and development of control software for electric machines and drive units across automotive, commercial transport, off-highway, and aerospace sectorsCapture requirements for the embedded control systems of electrified productsDesign and develop algorithms for electrified propulsion applications using model-based design toolsMake and contribute to software architecture decisions that facilitate the development of efficient and effective control softwareCreate plant models for various hydro-electro-mechanical systems for MiL & HiL testing of softwarePerform software and calibration development on real hardware in test cells and in vehiclesGenerate formal reports, documentation and technical communication and deliver it effectively to customersManage and deliver internal and external projects to a high standard within time and cost constraintsProvide direction and guidance for a growing department across the entire product development lifecycleCarry out engineering tasks, executed to the highest level whilst following and developing DSD technical processes, procedures, and standardsDevelop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with peers, business development, and technical leadersYou will need:At least 5 years’ experience in electrified powertrain control, and system developmentBachelor degree in EngineeringExpertise using Matlab/Simulink/StateflowUnderstanding of the fundamentals of electric machine operation and the control thereofHigh standards of algorithm modelling and experience with model-based design techniquesUnderstanding of the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems that make up hybrid and EV powertrainsA high level of aptitude and the ability to quicky learn and apply new engineering concepts on the job. Evidence of this capability should be demonstrated by the candidateAbility to be self-guided and determine innovative and robust solutions for a variety of control challengesStrong sense of ownership for assigned work and hold oneself to a high standard of the quality for delivered work.Ability to interface with clients with a positive, inquisitive, and value-adding approachThe following would be a bonus:Experience with low level electric motor controlsExperience with hybrid supervisory vehicle controlsExpertise in RTW Embedded coder for auto code generationExperience using calibration tools such as CANape or INCAExperience in developing control algorithms for productionAn understanding of the requirements for fulfilling ISO26262 and/or ISO13849Experience in hydraulic design and/or modellingExperience with other advanced simulation tools such as Amesim or IPG CarmakerProject management and/or project planning experienceExperience in generating and maintaining customer relationships including development of new business proposalsExperience coding with PythonExperience with machine learning and data driven methodologiesRemuneration&
