Controls Engineer- 2nd Shift

NATURE OF WORK:Lead and support controls, automation and implementation of projects from the prototype into production phase.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED (The following duties are typical for this classification. However, any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties which may be performed.)

  • Implement projects and launch processes with adapting production lines from the prototype to SOP phase
  • Support production to reduce downtime with increased quality
  • Develop predictive maintenance indicators to increase reliability and reduce downtime
  • Develop and implement error proofs to improve quality
  • Lead in activities around "Manufacturing Footprint" analysis
  • Support implementation and production of automated equipment
  • Support designs through establishing line requirements, balancing, robot installation, and other electrical controls
  • Develop requirements and safety controls for automated cells
  • Understand maintenance and upkeep of other automated items on line and in plant
  • Coordinate and manage controls systems
  • Mentor and train Maintenance Technicians to support production
  • Support Kaizen, Improvement walks, and Error proofing projects
  • Develop MFMEA (Machinery Failure Mode Effects Analysis) with defined contingency plan and disaster recovery

  • Expert knowledge in RS logix 500, RS logix 5000, Baluff I/O link, and Fanuc robot programming

  • Ability to write detailed equipment specifications or flow charts that encompass complex plant or line processes
  • Ability to determine root-cause of technical problems and implement comprehensive solutions
  • Ability to use AutoCAD and create 2D cell layouts and electrical drawing


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering discipline or applied sciences field
