Mechanical Engineer - Industrial MachineFlint, MICompany builds special machines; assembly, material handling, etc.Work Hours: 7:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday, with some SaturdaysPay Rate: Up to $40/hrThe Industrial Machine Mechanical Engineer is part of a team of mechanical engineers for designing, automotive machine mechanical systems.These designs will be a mixture of standards, past projects, and new.This person works with internal teams (controls engineers, mechanical engineers, project managers, commissioning) external suppliers, and customers.RESPONSIBILITIES:As an Industrial Machine Mechanical Engineer, you will start a project at the beginning and follow it through final customer acceptance.You will review customer specifications, standards / past projects, and lead a team of other mechanical engineers in designing the complete mechanical portion of the machine.You will be responsible for producing a quality design on schedule, getting customer acceptance, reviewing designs from other design engineers, and assisting as required while the machine is being built and debugged.Some travel is possible for customer meetings, field checks, installation support.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:The following requirements are essential for this position:Experienced in designing mechanical systems for industrial machines from scratchCompetent in Unigraphics and AutoCAD designAble to work well in a team-oriented environmentMust have good time management skills and be able to meet deadlinesExperience in understanding and following customer specificationsExperience in being part of a team of mechanical engineersGood communications skills (written and verbal)Ability to follow standardsAbility to combine standards, past project designs, and new designsAbility to check mechanical designs from other engineers for errors or inconsistenciesAbility to read, understand, and interpret mechanical drawingsAbility to design standard mechanical templates to be used by other mechanical engineersAbility to estimate tasks and the duration of tasks required to complete a projectAbility to manage design change requests and open issuesAbility to write technical documents and reports.EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:Overall Experience - a minimum of five yearsrsquo; experience related to Industrial Machine Mechanical designJob Training - employees in this position usually require training involving on-the-job experience, informal training with experienced workers, and formal training with qualified experts.Education - a bachelorrsquo;s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of five years related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.TRAVEL:Travel may be required for visiting customer sites, external suppliers etc Possession of a valid U.S. passport may be required. Travel can be expected to assist in installing equipment and commissioning in the customerrsquo;s facility. The length of stay will vary depending on machine type and complexity, but a total of 10% is possible.6 Month Contract to Permanent Position (Will be considered for early hire in).
