General Motors Tool & Die Area Lead - MFE0005465 in Flint, Michigan

Job Description -This job involves the direct supervision of Salary employees.It also involves the indirect supervision of teams of represented skilled trade employees.NAETC workload involves the construction of sheet metal stamping dies; as well as associated Tooling and Die components for use in General Motors.

The work is of a highly technical nature and involves the coordination of a number of operations. The ability to prioritize multiple tasks and coordinate people is very important. This would also involve the ability to make decisions within the limits of general policies.

Roles and Responsibilties :

o Supervision of Salary employees

o Indirect supervision of automotive sheet metal die construction and/or engineering employees

o Indirect supervision of Tool Room work and Maintenance Activities

o Support problem solving efforts for quality and productivity issues

o Link to customers for feedback

o Keep Management informed of important developments

o Controls progress of projects with attention to detail and schedule

o Complies with terms of national and local bargaining agreements

o Regular contact with customers, suppliers and others outside the work group

o Maintains safety and good housekeeping standards

o Train and develop employees (salary and hourly)

o This job will require overtime

o Ability to operate in a GMS Team environment

o Ability to prioritize work

oUnderstanding of Budgets and forecasts; as well as monitor costs

Required Skills, Abilities and Education:

o Bachelor degree in manufacturing / technical supervision, mechanical engineering or Journeyperson Tool and/or Diemaker preferred

o Demonstrated problem solving and analytical abilities where issues are complex

o Experience in supervising UAW bargaining unit members

o Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output

o Commitment to teamwork and partnerships as they relate to cross functional partners

o Ability to work any of (3) shifts
