Eaton Corporation Manufacturing Engineer in Galesburg, Michigan

Eaton’s Vehicle Division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist – to join our team. This position is based at our Galesburg or Southfield, Michigan facility.

Position Overview:

The primary function of this position is working as a Regional Manufacturing Engineer leading continuous improvement efforts at the plant locations in the Vehicle Group North America region. This position will also be involved in driving standardization and working with cross-functional VG project(s) teams to implement strategic plan actions.

In this function you will:

  • Lead the creation of manufacturing processes, routings and drawings

  • Evaluate and establish manufacturing cost, quality plan and investment of new, relocated and redesigned components

  • Recommend and implements improvements to existing manufacturing operations, equipment and procedures

  • Develop all manufacturing engineering inputs required for the development of accurate cost models in support of the quotation process

  • Identify and coordinate best practice implementation between multiple facilities

  • Present manufacturing plans to the Senior Management for approval

  • Evaluate and verify manufacturing processes, procedures, equipment and tool designs completed by peers

  • Investigate, analyze and recommend new and/or alternate equipment and manufacturing methods

  • Prepare financial justification for projects in support of CAR analysis

  • Manage capital and expense spending for assigned projects

  • Procure equipment and tooling per project plan and standards

  • Manages ProLaunch STP requirements for manufacturing relocation projects

    Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

  • Willing and able to travel 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution

  • Knowledge and application of Eaton Business System tools for successful project completion

  • Knowledge and experience with the PRO-Launch process

  • Team-oriented, flexible, must be able to work with all levels of management

  • Recognize and define safety improvements for all aspects of manufacturing processes.

  • Lean Manufacturing

  • 6 Sigma Green Belt

  • Bilingual (Spanish)

  • Solid Modeling experience

  • Manufacturing Process Knowledge of:

  • Forging

  • Machining

  • Heat Treat

  • Grinding

  • Assembly

  • Welding

Position Criteria:

  • Experience with green machining (Turning, Milling, etc.)

  • Understanding of the capabilities and limitations of machine tools

  • Experience with finishing operations (Grinding, Hard Turning, Plating)

  • Possess the ability to define specifications for automation in support of manufacturing operations

  • Project Management skills to define, track and report on project status

  • Able to develop optimal manufacturing processes and provide cost estimates for business cases

  • Good decision making and communication skills

  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Team-oriented, flexible, must be able to work with all levels of management
