Dematic is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with demonstrated knowledge of a broad field of specialization through successful completion of moderately complex assignments. The ideal candidate will be able to successfully apply a complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures within areas of specialization to gain familiarity of Dematic’s current products and engineering processes.
The successful candidate will have experience working in the material handling industry.
Experience with Allen Bradley Logix PLC controls platforms a necessity.
Experience with controls hardware design a necessity.
Siemens and Modicon PLC experience a plus.
Design work is to be expected; experience in ACADE 2008 environment is beneficial.
Willingness to work from high heights and work using lifts.
Willingness to work weekends, overtime and travel is a must (60-75% travel).
Controls Engineer should have current, hands-on experience with Programmable Controllers. Expertise in the latest AB Logix or Schneider Electric (Modicon) is preferred. However, other PLC platforms will be considered as well.
At least 2 years' experience in controls. However, 5+ years' experience is preferred.
Must demonstrate a working understanding of design, layout and use of current networks such as Devicenet, Profibus, ASi, Ethernet.
Controls Engineer must have current experience with the rigors of on-site startup/commissioning.
Capability to develop and/or follow a project plan knowing the importance of setting and meeting milestone dates.
Design work is required. The ability to work proficiently within the AutoCADE environment will be beneficial when being considered as a candidate.
Experience with material handling systems is a plus.
Experience in writing descriptions of operations and development of controls based physical layouts is expected.
Travel up to 50% is possible. This includes weekend work with overtime.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred, however, 5-8 years of experience in a related field will also be considered.
Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.
Demonstrated ability to determine requirements from customers while selling our ideas.
Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness and demonstrated ability to stay current with the latest material handling concepts.
Demonstrated ability to manage numerous opportunities and deadlines.
Proven ability to reliably forecast and report on the status of proposals.
