Eaton Corporation Senior Test Engineer in Grand Rapids, Michigan
Eaton’s Fuel and Motion Control Systems division, a part of our Aerospace group, is currently seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Grand Rapids, MI office.
Position Overview:
Leads new product test programs including development testing, qualification testing, test report generation, enforcing test standards, and project management of complex test equipment for electro-mechanical actuators.

In this function you will:
Provide hands-on test leadership for new product development programs
Design and develop new test equipment for verification of electro-mechanical actuator during development, qualification, and production phases.
Write engineering documents including but not limited to test plans, procedures, and reports.
Manage the design, build, and verification of test equipment through external suppliers.
Develop test equipment requirements from customer and product requirements.
Coordinate testing with outside test labs.
Lead technicians in test execution and test equipment development.
Create and release engineering drawings and schematics.
Provide troubleshooting and repair of test equipment.
Perform hands-on testing as required

Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree Engineering from an accredited university
Minimum three (3) years of engineering experience
Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Grand Rapids, MI will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of five (5) years of experience designing and troubleshooting test equipment
Experience testing for electrical components in a new product development environment
Prior project management experience
Hands-on experience with electromechanical components and related systems (i.e. actuators)
Prior Aerospace industry experience is preferred
Position Criteria:
Working knowledge of mechanical design principles
Strong product design ability (Both new product & product modification)
Advanced knowledge in engineering report and specification writing
In-depth knowledge of mechanics of materials, statics, and dynamics
Ability to make recommendations on product designs, strongly influence product costs, and capital investments.
Ability to lead technical discussions and presentations for internal and external customers, including design reviews, non-advocate reviews and technical coordination meetings.
Thorough knowledge of product applications, product design techniques, engineering processes, and engineering standards.
