Fives Group Controls Engineer (Hardware Designer) in Grayling, Michigan

Fives DyAG Corp. is looking for a Controls Engineer skilled in PLC Programming as well as Controls Hardware Design in the Grayling, MI area. This company specializes in automated assembly and parts feeding equipment for the automotive industry.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Creating and commissioning industrial controls systems, PLC/HMI programming and software design for a variety of automotive industry applications

  • Responsible for PLC/HMI code development, code installation, debug on job site, and commissioning of the complete automated system

  • Conducting the peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with build and electrical teams

  • Ensure that systems are designed and programmed to customer and/or company build specifications using standard techniques and approaches

  • Industrial controls systems design

  • Control Panel layouts

  • Schematics, wire diagrams, one line diagrams, block diagrams

  • Equipment specifications

  • BOMs (Bill of Materials)

  • Electrical design and drafting for industrial automation projects

  • Travel to customer sites for installation and startup of systems

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of Controls Engineering/PLC/HMI programming experience

  • 5+ years of Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and/or Siemens PLC/HMI experience

  • 3+ years of Controls Hardware Design experience

  • 3+ years of Control Panel Layouts/Schematics/Wiring Diagrams, etc. experience

  • 3+ years of proven experience in PLC/HMI/Servo System Design with any of the following hardware system: Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon, GE FANUC, Omron, Mitsubishi, Bosch-Rexroth, etc.

  • 3+ years of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and/or EPLAN experience

  • Knowledge of UL508A Standards is preferred

  • The ability to program/write code/ladder logic from scratch

  • Prior experience with an automation integrator and/or automotive OEM or supplier preferred

  • Prior experience with automated assembly systems and parts feeding equipment preferred

Travel:

Travel to customer sites for installations/commissioning will be required from time-to-time.
