*About this Opportunity

As an Electrical Engineering Co-Op, you’ll work on and around state-of-the-art custom engineered manufacturing equipment. You will focus on machine controls and automation as you become an integral part of our Electrical Engineering Teams.

Co-Ops at Herman Miller participate in three work rotations (May 2019 – August 2019, January 2020 – April 2020, and September 2020 – December 2020). Your first rotation will take place during our Summer Intern Program, which includes housing options if your permanent address is not local to your assigned work location. You will be responsible for providing housing for your second and third rotations.

  • Gain experience in a variety of areas, including web development, automated data collection, AutoCAD Electrical schematic creation and maintenance, PLC programming, MMI/HMI development, computer and machine networking, vision, and robotics.

  • Interact with several different team members, as well as teams from Production and various Engineering functions.

  • Work with vendors, suppliers, and machine builders external to Herman Miller.

  • Participate on a cross-functional team to complete an intern project.

  • Attain on-the-job work experience aligned with your career objectives.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

You might be just who we’re looking for if you are...

  • Familiar with PCs and related software.

  • A strong communicator with good organizational skills.

  • Capable of working with and without supervision.

  • Able to meet deadlines and budget requirements.

  • Enrolled and pursuing a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on machine controls and automation from an accredited college or university. You must have a GPA of at least a 3.0 (cumulative or within your major) to qualify for consideration.

  • Satisfactorily finished with the basic coursework in your chosen degree program.

  • In favorable academic standing within your current academic program or major.

  • Authorized to work in the United States.

  • Able to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
