To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/27/2021. CERTIFICATION: EPA approved universal refrigerant recovery certificate required. This is described as possession of a universal refrigerant recovery certification approved by the Environmental Protection Agency. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. Experience working on Commercial and Industrial heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment and systems; experience working with refrigeration equipment and systems including commercial refrigerators, coolers, and chillers; and experience with building automation systems and its associated software and components. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms and other hard to reach places. This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries tools, equipment and parts weighing up to 20 pounds and less often up to 40 pounds. Occasionally lifts or moves with assistance moderately heavy objects weighing more than 40 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside. Sometimes required to make repairs and installations in bad weather; in work areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty and greasy; on scaffolding and in close quarters. Occasionally exposed to the possibility of injury from falling, electrical shock, burns and rotary device, such as electrical motors. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises. When equipment is fixed in place, it is sometimes necessary to work in warehouse or industrial areas exposed to loud noises, heat or cold, fumes, etc. Will be required to wear ear protection, face masks, goggles, rubber boots, safety shoes and any protective gear as necessary to perform duties of this position.
