Consumers Energy, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy and headquartered in Jackson, Michigan, provides natural gas and electricity to nearly 6.8 million of Michigan's 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties./em/span uGeneral Summary/u Fault analysis engineers are responsible for analyzing fault events and disturbances on the 46 kV system and above - while providing fault locations to the field. Engineers review and verify that every protection scheme operated correctly along with relays and breakers and other equipment. The important part of the position is providing support to system control and the field when there is an event on our HVD or transmission system with a flexible on-call schedule. We are currently seeking a talented individual for the position of Engineer I - Senior Engineer II. uJob Description / Responsibilities/u The successful candidate will provide specialized and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices as applied to complex power systems. Provide a technical role in evaluating and recommending changes to the monitoring on the power system. Provide support in reviewing system data, NERC data, and reliability reporting. uRequirements/ Qualifications/u Requires a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; emphasis in power a plus emAdditional Responsibilities:/emulliReview system fault events in real time and after the fact in order to validate proper system protection performance/liliDemonstrate and in-depth understanding of complex power system performance and operations. /liliKnowledge of protection and control schemes a plus./liliProficiency in data entry and database handling, analysis, and interpretation is preferred. /liliProgramming abilities and database development is desired./liliFamiliarity with relay communication schemes and SEL equipment, one-lines, schematics and detailed electrical drawings a plus. /liliReport to designated Supervisor and perform various assignments as requested./liliCollect, maintain, and analyze relay records in order to validate correct relay and breaker operation/liliAssist engineers with establishing monitoring standards and specifying monitoring systems/liliProvide analysis of system faults and fault locations to the field so that the system can be restored quickly and reduce customer outage minutes./liliProactively evaluate methods to reduce costs, increase reliability and efficiency in overall fault analysis processes/liliProvide support in reviewing system data, NERC data, and reliability reporting. /liliMust have the ability to multi-task./liliFamiliarity with basic PC applications, computer modeling, and programming./liliShall have strong analytical capabilities. /liliRequires guidance from a Senior Associate Engineer or other more experienced engineers./li/ul uEssential Functions/u ulliProvide technical engineering suppor
