Eaton Corporation Transitions Lead Manufacturing Engineer in Jackson, Michigan
Eaton’s Aerospace – Fluid Electrical Distribution division is currently seeking a Transition Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This position can be based either in our Jackson, MI facility or remotely from a home office.
Transitions includes the movement of production capability from and/or into new locations ranging from a large product line or down to individual parts. The position is responsible for effective leadership, development, and execution of the strategic initiatives of the Transitions Manufacturing Engineering team. This individual will be responsible for short and long-range new product development, new product introduction and improving cost for existing product lines through sound execution of engineering principles and processes. The position will require design, development, and implementation of metal forming processes, including tool and die design.
The position also coordinates support to and from division and group Advanced Manufacturing beyond the immediate site / other functions. Accountabilities under this individual’s direction are Engineering Production, New Product Development, and Standard Transition of product from other sites.

In this function, you will:
Provide Technical Ownership and serve as Project Lead for Design and Development of Tooling and Process Implementation of sheet metal and tube fabrication processes including press stamping, forming, drawing, hydroforming, rolling, and spin form processes.
Manage projects and conduct project reviews as needed to ensure successful and timely completion, within budget. Communicates changes and progress status.
Develop organizational capability/capacity and engineering/technical skills among team and division sites to support division strategies and initiatives. Maintain appropriate training programs to assure continuous learning.
Develop capability for improved engineering techniques and BASELINES that add value to our products. Develop practices for documented technical standards around best practices and using lessons learned.
Develop and implement STANDARD processes and tools for engineering tasks consistent with industry best practices. Monitor to assure adherence to defined processes.
Lead continuous improvement processes for productivity, and first-pass yield. Use of tools including Design for Six Sigma to achieve that end. Identify key engineering metrics, monitor performance and implement improvements accordingly
Utilize ProLaunch tools such as STP, NPD, and NPI to successfully develop, introduce and transfer product to site. Act as manufacturing liaison for products from inception through shipment to customer. Interact with Design Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain teams to ensure design for manufacturability of new and legacy products.
Provide site Lean and Six Sigma mentoring.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering an accredited institution
Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
OR a minimum of three (3) years of combined manufacturing experience and experience supporting product development and sustainment programs
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
3 or more years of experience in Tubing and Sheet Metal Process Manufacturing including Press (Blanking, Forming, Drawing, and Progressive Die) Hydro-Form, Metal Spinning and Rolling, Manufacturing Processes and Tool & Die Design
3 or more years of demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing techniques and six sigma training/mentoring
3 or more years of experience supporting manufacturing in the Aerospace Industry
Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt
Bilingual English/ Spanish
