Pfizer Journeyman HVAC/R Technician (1st shift 7:00am 3:30pm ) in Kalamazoo, Michigan

ROLE SUMMARY

Jouurneyman must be skilled craftsmen in their trade, and have a minimum of (2) year technical degree or equivalent technical certification and (3) years actual, practical working experience in the HVAC-R mechanical equipment service industry. Universal EPA Certification, Large Rooftop Units, Split Systems, Built Up Systems, Reciprocating Chillers, and Low Temp experience a plus, Controls experience a plus. Ability to troubleshoot HVAC-R controls and systems is required. Technical and operational knowledge of air cooled and water cooled chillers is preferred, particularly Large Tonnage Reciprocating, Scroll, Centrifugal & Screw Chiller Diagnoses / Compressor Overhaul. Heavy emphasis on refrigeration knowledge as this position primarily supports chiller operation in API Manufacturing for the Kalamazoo plant. Good verbal and written communication skills.

Potential for exposure to hazardous materials, heights, working in confined spaces (vessels), temperature extremes, equipment in motion, dusty and dirty conditions, stooping, bending and heavy lifting. The proper use of the correct Personal Protective Equipment for each task as well as compliance with all applicable safety Standard Procedures is a must. May work variable shifts and 24 hour on call as required. Participates in multicraft work activities as required. (EMU craft generic)

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

A Maintenance Mechanic working within the Operations and Utilities environment, performs preventive maintenance, modifies, installs, and maintains heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, some of which are located in and/or support production areas. The Mechanic also provides customer training in the implementation of those systems in compliance with company standards and procedures and government regulations (SOPs, GMPs, GLPs, PSM, etc). Can serve as a maintenance advisor in areas of engineering (process design, material selection, documentation, calibration, testing and problem solving methodology, project scope and follow up). Responsible for priority assessment and decision making as it relates to troubleshooting, diagnostics, assembly, repair, and a proactive maintenance of systems and equipment in a cost effective manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma / general education degree (GED) or Associates Degree or relevant Technical training.

  • Journeyman HVAC / R Mechanic required

Additional qualifications preferred:

  • Universal EPA Refrigeration certification, Self-starter with ability to work independently.

  • Basic computer user skills are required (Microsoft systems).

  • Blue print reading a plus

  • Electrical diagram reading a plus

  • Excellent communications Skills

  • Strong work ethic and the ambition to be the best.
