How will you make an impact?

This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide daily ownership of consumable product specifications and supporting processes used for batching, bottling and packaging products for sale. This position will troubleshoot issues and develop more effective methods of manufacturing consumables to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost while also reducing inherent waste in our processes.

What will you do?

  • Maintain costing standards – setup times, production rate, scrap rates/factors – and participate in annual standard roll

  • Packaging design/development supporting new products and product rationalization efforts

  • Assist EH&S Manager with workplace safety hazards and completing Job Safety Analyses (JSA)

  • Support production enhancements and implementation of next generation production lines and capital projects

  • Support new product development activities ensuring design for manufacturability

  • Create and maintain product family matrix

  • Attack daily process disruptions such as equipment downtime, material availability and IT system outages – update SOPs and re-train employees on improvement opportunities

  • Understand drivers and attack manufacturing waste: MUV (Material Usage Variance), scrap, downtime, manufacturing layout, and inventory location/accuracy issues

  • Support execution of full change control process including use-as-is and disposition decisions

  • Ownership of manufacturing SOPs and work instructions including creation and updates for existing and new processes

  • Lead/support PPI events focused on throughput, waste reduction and material cost savings

  • Assist Marketing and Inventory Control with product rationalization efforts through the eyes of manufacturing

  • Support IQ/OQ/PQ validations (Install Qualification, Operational Qualification, and Performance Qualification) on all existing and new pieces of equipment.

  • Work with engineering personnel and raw material vendors to develop component specifications and standards. Work with QA to develop incoming inspection protocols to ensure components are to specification.

  • Create process flow maps

  • Evaluate and implement line balancing

  • Establish operating standards based on equipment and process capabilities

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering preferred

  • 5 years of related experience preferred

  • Manufacturing standard costing experience preferred

  • Experience identifying sources of waste and manufacturing processes to drive down cost

  • Experience with validation; equipment and processes preferred

  • Computer experience including Word, Excel, and Power Point

  • Self-starter, attention to detail, team player and excellent oral, written, presentation and role model leadership skills

  • Collaborative problem solver capable of working with cross functional teams

  • The ability to lift, push and/or pull up to 40lbs Ability to read, write and understand English
