Arcadis Treatment Technician/Operator in Kingsford, Michigan

Job Description : Arcadis is seeking a dedicated and dependable environmental scientist to join our Kingsford, Michigan office. This full-time position requires the ability to conduct water treatment system maintenance and perform fieldwork in support of long-term, ongoing environmental remediation activities. The position will require mechanical aptitude, an excellent work ethic, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to work well within a team in addition to working independently. Interest in part-time employment would be considered.Duties will include a combination of treatment system maintenance, field, and office related tasks:bull; Daily maintenance activities associated with a 0.25-0.5 MGD groundwater extraction and treatment systembull; Field sampling of groundwater, soil, and other environmental mediabull; Field data collection, analysis, and interpretationbull; Subcontractor coordination and oversightbull; Conducting project-related research (historical data, regulations, etc.)This position requires both field and office work; the successful candidate should expect to be out in the field 75-95% of the time. Field work may be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes. Required Qualifications :bull; Proficiency with conventional software programsbull; Previous maintenance experience for industrybull; Strong mechanical aptitude Preferred Qualifications :bull; Associates or advanced degree in Water Resource Management or related fieldbull; Operating knowledge of water treatment systems, including activated growth processes, extraction wells and pumps, aeration basins, clarifiers, pumps, belt filter press and other ancillary equipment (or similar system operation or components)bull; 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response training
