Job Description

PURPOSE/SUMMARY:

Supervise, plan and coordinate all aspects of new product launches, including customer quotations, CAR, Engineering Change Management system utilizing RPC database, development, new product implementation planning, tooling & equipment purchases, tooling & equipment tryout and all quality documents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Approves cost estimates

  • Approves CAR development

  • Approves equipment and tooling purchase coordination

  • Approves tryout of equipment and tooling

  • Approves planned training of plant personnel for new production start ups and existing production processes

  • Directs the maintenance and creation of all documentation necessary to comply with NPIS & QS9000 guidelines.

  • Supervise and plan career development for all direct reports

  • Plan and supervise support of production with training of personnel, maintenance of equipment, and improvement of daily operations.

  • Represents engineering and maintenance in interplant company meetings

  • Oversees interplant weekly NPIS meetings

  • Coordinate participation in monthly corporate NPIS meetings

  • Communicate and implement company goals within the engineering departments

  • Lead engineering staff meetings

  • Drive execution of all company mandates

  • Approves and directs efforts for facility maintenance and improvements

Required Skills

Required Skills:

  • Above average communication skills (both oral and written)

  • Understanding of Quality System requirements: Automotive, ISO9000, TS16949

  • Evaluation and measurement techniques

  • Auditing techniques

  • Project planning

  • Presentation and training skills

  • Financial awareness and understanding of financial impacts of actions and decisions

  • Knowledge of quality and engineering tools: DOE, QFD, 8D, Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Statistical methods

Required Experience

Required Experience:

  • 4 year degree

  • 10 years manufacturing experience
