NOTE: This is an entry level position projected for advancement. Purpose is to formally train and develop selected candidates to become TFAs (Technical Field Advisors) to do installation and commissioning (I&C) of aero derivative gas turbines (LM2500s lm6000’s

and lms100’s) worldwide. Extensive travel for extended periods of time is required.

Selected candidates will be formally trained and will attend field OJT to work on Micronet and MarkVIe controls systems which form part of I&C of aeroderivative turbines (lm2500, LM6000 and LMS100)

Relocation is not required. Selected candidates MUST reside within one hour from a major airport

SUMMARY

Technicians on TA training will be working side by side with onsite Controls TA to learn about the various activities during Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance of controls systems for lm6000, lms100 and lm2500 gas turbines (generator or mechanical

drive). Some of the activities to learn are reviewing plant engineering documents and P&ID’s, troubleshooting of plant systems and equipment, planning, organizing, integrating and direction of resources such as labor, tools and materials as required to complete

the work scope according to contractual requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Trainee Reports to Lead Mechanical TA or site Mgr on matters involving the Controls work during installation, commission and operation of General Electric Gas turbines (LM2500, lm6000 and lms 100)

  • Trainee will shadow Controls TA who is responsible for start-up testing and performance testing which includes troubleshooting on plant systems and equipment.

  • Trainee will accompany the Lead TA to regular scheduled start-up meetings where all project activities are coordinated while interfacing with other personnel involved in the project such as Electrical, other controls, construction, operations, owner, engineering,and vendors.

  • Trainee will learn to develop startup procedures, startup schedules, and site-specific startup documentation.

  • Trainee will learn about correct installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and maintenance practices are followed

  • Trainee will learn about working with owner’s representatives to maintain the startup schedule

  • Trainee will learn to maintain startup packages, controlled drawings, and applicable project records

  • Trainee will learn activities during performance testing emissions testing, and reliability testing

  • Trainee will learn about the overseeing of third party testing of applicable equipment

  • Trainee will learn about lockout and tag-out procedures and all other safety-related activities are maintained

  • Trainee will learn how to provide scheduling and status reports to project manager

  • Trainee will learn about meeting contractual obligations

  • Trainee will ensure all in-field activities are carried out safely complying with company environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines and procedures

  • Trainee will learn about procurement and maintaining of spare parts and consumables required for testing of systems

  • Trainee will learn about Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) packaged products so that eventually is able to provide customers with technical direction and support on equipmentKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be fluent in English

  • Must be familiar with any type of controls systems (preferable MarkVIE and/or Micronet).

  • Must be familiar with PLC, HMIs, and be able to do loop checks and calibrations

  • Must be available on short notice for extended, travel domestically and overseas

  • Preferred familiarity with Aeroderivative Gas Turbines lm2500, 6000, lms100s, other jet engines, Control Systems, and Auxiliary Systems

  • Must be Able to understand and implement technical procedures

  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Must have Effective interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Must have Strong computer skillsPHYSICAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able and willing to work weekly schedules that are not uniform on a day-to-day basis

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to climb ladders and stepsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, controls or electronics from accredited university

  • In lieu of degree we will consider candidates with Associate’s Degree in a similar technical field plus three years field experience working with controls/HMI systems and knowledge of plc’s and calibration, or instrumentation and controls experience withany type of gas turbines.

  • Former U.S. Military Gas Turbine Systems Technician with proven technical military courses in the electrical and controls field will also be considered.

  • Working experience servicing or maintaining any aero derivative turbines Preferable LM2500, lm6000, or lms100 highly desirable
