Allied Reliability Group Quality Engineering Supervisor in Mason, Michigan

The Quality Engineering Supervisor will lead a team of professionals dedicated to gage design and calibration functions to ensure quality products and prevent defects in all phases of the manufacturing process from suppliers to customers. The Quality Engineering Supervisor also work across functionally within our Engineering department to train, implement and design documentation system for Product Approval Process (PAP) project. We are looking for a candidate with exceptional communication skills and confidence in order to lead by influence rather than positional authority. Our successful candidate will have experience in manufacturing quality and in using common quality tools of industry and prepared to bring their skill set to a thriving team.

  • Manage the coordination and overall integration of engineering projects

  • Provide direction, technical expertise, and support resources

  • Consult or negotiate with company and external customers regarding project specifications, resources, timelines, costs, and other relevant information

  • Develop training and teach statistical and quality methodologies and procedures

  • Create test parameters, and direct and prioritize laboratory testing efforts

  • Establish robust programs, procedures, and inspection criteria to evaluate precision and accuracy of equipment

  • Research and implement cost savings opportunities for the company and external customer

  • Identify broad conceptual ideas and develop them into useful solutions

  • Lead the implementation and ongoing success of the product approval process to include training, establishing system for monitoring progress, and establishing and maintaining metrics

  • Assist with new gage design

  • Lead team in cost/benefit analysis tools to assist with gage selection and design

  • Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate, propose, implement, and document engineering solutions

  • Establish continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study and six (6) years of related experience, OR Associate’s degree and twelve (12) years of related engineering experience

  • Two (2) years of demonstrated technical leadership

  • Experience utilizing various statistical and quality methodologies including but not limited to Statistical Process Control (SPC), Statistical Quality Control (SQC), 5S, 8D, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R), and Design of Experiments (DOE)

  • Experience leading and participating in cross-functional teams on complex projects

  • Understanding of and ability to analyze measurement error as relates to products, ability to use this information to advance measurement science within the company

  • Understanding or engineering background of dimensional metrology

  • Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products

  • Up to 25% domestic and international travel

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Manager, and Certified Calibration Technician, or willingness to achieve within 18 months
