QUALITY COORDINATOR/LAB TECHNICIAN

Kelly Services is seeking a QACoordinator/Lab Technician for our client, a global chemical company, in Midland, MI. This position is indefinite.

Work Schedule:

Standard Day Shift Hours - Monday thru Friday

Job Description:

This role will divide its time between quality coordination and quality testing technician. Candidate will be part of the team providing testing service, data reporting, and share in lab maintenance activities.

For this specific position, we are looking for candidates with an interest in working in a lab setting, which will include sample preparation (primarily cutting on band saws & meat slicer), conducting physical property tests, and recording results. The successful candidate will spend part of their time conducting physical property testing on building materials (insulating foams, house-wraps, sealants, etc.) and part of their time as quality coordinator. The remaining part involves safety, assorted administrative items, equipment responsibilities, and miscellaneous help with special lab oriented projects.

While the position is for full time, we offer flexibility in hours with good communication.

Duties:

  1. As the quality coordinator - manage, update, and schedule the following items:

  2. Lab quality manual to ensure compliance to ISO 17025 accreditation

  3. Operating procedures, key point cards, and work instructions

  4. Training database

  5. Documents on the file shares

  6. Lab webpage

  7. Equipment files

  8. Records retention

  9. ASTM test methods

  10. Yearly - internal audits and every other year – external audits

  11. Quality incidents

  12. Yearly customer feedback

  13. As a testing technician - share in the following lab responsibilities:

  14. Lab housekeeping, facility organization, and equipment maintenance activities as directed by the Systems Development Lab (SDL) Team Leader.

  15. Function as an integrated team member in scheduling equipment time and share resources.

  16. Perform routine or standard assignments from detailed procedures within an agreed to timeline. Able to coordinate and complete large testing programs involving standard tests and/or established procedures for key research programs.

  17. Collect and compile data from tests. Able to check data and flag noteworthy patterns or observations to researcher.

  18. Generate data reports using Microsoft Word and Excel.

  19. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the SDL’s Quality Management System.

  20. Perform simple equipment checks and/or calibrations prior to running tests.

  21. Must be able to meet the testing reproducibility expected in a NVLAP accredited lab facility.

  22. Notify the Quality Assurance Coordinator of necessary corrective or preventative actions.

  23. Participate as a team member on lab improvement projects.

  24. Perform simple trouble shooting on lab equipment.

  25. Develop standard operating procedures, construct simple calculation templates in Excel and identify equipment gaps for standardized test methods that are new to the lab.

  26. Train less experienced employees on established testing and equipment usage procedures.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

-BS, AS in lab related field or equivalent experience.

-Must be familiar with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
