The Controller Packaging Analysis Engineer leads the development of the controller packaging requirements and designing mechanical conformance of the embedded control module. The CPAE will also work with the GM Validation team to ensure the validation test plan and flow is aligned with the controller requirements. The Controller Packaging Analysis Engineer works with the embedded controller supplier, GM Validation team and Supplier Quality team to develop and validate the embedded controller manufacturing process.
Define controller location possibilities with vehicle groups and engine and transmission engineers as appropriate.
Review and support bracket design for installation into the vehicle
Review and approve controller fastener for controller to bracket installation
Use modeling tools to define controller thermal requirements.
Define controller package requirements in controller statement of requirements
Review and release controller math data
Review and release controller outline drawing
Approve and support supplier mechanical analysis and help resolve thermal design issues
Review and approve controller validation tests with suppliers and GM Validation team.
Troubleshoot validation failures to find a solution with the GM and supplier teams
Review and approve supplier manufacturing processes and line equipment
Approve controller connector selection
Approve connector validation test results
Review and approve shipping and handling requirements for the controller
Additional Job Description
Candidates should have one of the following engineering degrees: Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
Knowledge and 2+ years of experience in vehicle or propulsion control system development
Demonstrated high level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult
Demonstrated knowledge of developing and reviewing validation test documentation.
Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma, Red X, and similar system design methods
Demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated high level of technical skills.
Experience with use of modeling tools
