Job Description

We are committed to enhancing our products and are seeking innovative, forwarding-looking engineers who can help craft the future. We’re searching for the next generation of game-changers to usher in a new era of automotive innovation. GM's Global Electrification Calibration group currently has an opening for a Technical Specialist – High Voltage Battery Diagnostics and Driver Data Calibration. The position is located at the Milford Proving Grounds in an outstanding facility dedicated to Hybrid/EV/AV development.

The Technical Specialist – High Voltage Battery Diagnostics and Driver Data Calibration is responsible for directing a team of Calibration Engineers to produce high-quality, on-time work for all Electrification vehicle programs using common methods, processes, and procedures. The selected candidate will also have a unique opportunity to develop future Electrification architectures.


  • Technical leader for High Voltage Battery Diagnostics and Driver Data calibration for all Electrification vehicle programs.

  • Lead High Voltage Battery Diagnostics and Driver Data calibration strategies and support associated algorithm development.

  • Develop common approaches and institutionalize them in Calibration Standard Work.

  • Improve the efficiency and quality of Calibration Standard Work by systematically driving present vehicle-based tasks into Lab and/or Math/Virtual environments.

  • Mentor Calibration Engineers, providing technical training and establish good communication and knowledge-sharing.

  • Support the resolution of High Voltage Battery Diagnostics and Driver Data development issues.

  • Serve as a technical leader in multiple forums.

  • Support and approve all software change requests related to High Voltage Battery Diagnostics and Driver Data controls

  • Support Chief Engineer and Cross-Program Calibration Reviews.

  • Support Calibration Engineers to ensure high-quality, on-time deliveries and flawless launches.

  • Support resolution of vehicle, plant, service, and customer issues.

  • Provide input to Subsystem and Hardware Component Technical Specifications as applicable.

  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and GM-internal policies.

  • Document and integrate Lessons Learned from development and field issues into algorithms and Calibration Standard Work.

  • Actively participate in calibration activities for advanced programs.

  • Adhere to all safety precautions and requirements, treating safety as the top priority during all work activities.

Additional Job Description


  • B.S. Degree in Engineering.

  • Calibration/controls experience in a sophisticated technology area.

  • 5+ years of relevant job-related engineering experience.

  • Knowledge of Electrification propulsion system operation.

  • Proven track record to provide technical direction to other engineers and engineering support personnel.

  • Very high level of analytical problem-solving skills where problems are unusual and difficult.

  • Creates and maintains an environment that enables all participants to contribute to full potential.

  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink programming languages.

  • Familiar with in-vehicle development tools (INCA, neoVI, etc.).

  • DFSS Black Belt Certification.

Desired Skills:

  • M.S. Degree in Engineering.

  • Experience working in multiple functional areas within Electrification controls.

  • Experience with High Voltage Battery Diagnostics and Driver Data calibration on production programs.

  • Thorough knowledge of High Voltage Battery Diagnostics and Driver Data algorithms.

  • Thorough knowledge of High Voltage Battery Diagnostics and/or Driver Data Calibration Standard Work.

  • Publications and/or patents in Electrification controls.
